The types of data we collect

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

When someone visits www.Hourhands.co.uk we use Google Analytics, to collect standard internet log information and details of visitor behaviour patterns.  We do this to find out things such as the number of visitors to the various parts of the site.  This information is processed in a way which does not identify anyone.  We do not make, and do not allow Google to make, any attempt to find out the identities of those visiting our website.

Mailing Lists

As part of the registration process for our e-newsletter, we collect personal information.  We use that information for a couple of reasons: to tell you about services we provide and related information; to contact you if we need to obtain or provide additional information; to check our records are right and to check every now and then that you’re happy and satisfied.  We don’t buy or sell email lists with any organisation or business.

We use a third-party provider, MailChimp, to deliver our newsletter.  We gather statistics around email opening and clicks using industry standard technologies to help us monitor and improve our e-newsletter.  For more information, please see MailChimp’s privacy notice.  You can unsubscribe to newsletters at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any of our emails.

Who we share your data with

If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
