It’s week 11 of our countdown, and this week we’re discussing why your business needs a Business Management System. But doesn’t it sound just a bit bureaucratic?
Why do I need a Business Management System?
It’s true that recording how things work in your business may require you to invest some time, but our experience shows that it is good practice and you will see benefits.
- By creating and producing a management system (basically, a set of policies and procedures), you can help ensure your business works consistently and to the required standard.
- Putting policies and procedures in place can be particularly helpful if you’re growing the company and recruiting people to join your team. Your management system is a way of communicating what’s expected, and acts as a reference point for the whole team. It really will help your business run smoothly.
- The Business Management System can be a hard copy of a company procedures manual or an online system. Online systems can be particularly useful if some of your team are working remotely, and there are advantages when it comes to keeping things current.
- Reviewing your processes can often highlight opportunities to do things more efficiently. Areas you should consider for review are finance, marketing, data protection, and service delivery.
