The Access to Work scheme pays for admin support. Could it help you?

Do you have a physical or mental health condition or disability? And do you have a number of administration tasks that need doing but would welcome help to complete them? Access to Work could help!

Take a look here to find out more information about the scheme and how it could possibly help you.

Access to Work (ATW) is a Government grant that can be used to pay for practical support with your work. It doesn’t matter if you work from home or from an office, the money is there for you to purchase  a certain amount of hours of help every week and can be used to provide support for a wide variety of tasks. In short, all those tasks that take up space on your to-do list!

How we help our client with admin tasks

Our client has ADHD which impacts his daily life. Here is an example of how we were able to help and make his life a little bit easier.

“I only recently became aware that I most-likely have what is known as Inattentive ADHD, or ADD, but it has helped me make sense of a lot of the challenges that I’ve had throughout my career. In particular when I’ve had to manage longer-term and more complex programmes of work, or simply getting on top of admin like tax, VAT and invoices.

As a small business owner, I tend to focus on the activities that I enjoy most, like client management and actually doing the work, but the admin side of things has always been a struggle. When I discovered the support that was available through the Department of Work and Pensions’ Access to Work scheme, I jumped at it. After a series of conversations with the very helpful staff, and after being very honest about how my experiences of ADHD was affecting my ability to keep on top of the admin, I was able to secure 9 hours of weekly admin support. This is very ably provided by Hour Hands.

Hour Hands has been brilliant as they proactively help me to keep on top of the day-to-day running of my business. They do it all: from email inbox management to invoicing and VAT returns. I couldn’t recommend them more highly.”  Ben, Hour Hands client.

How can we help you?

Your ATW grant can buy admin help to complete tasks that you just aren’t getting round to doing. This can include:

  • Keeping on top of your accounts
  • Paying bills
  • Invoicing clients
  • Managing your emails
  • Managing your diary
  • Renewing insurance
  • Booking travel/services
  • Liaising with suppliers
  • Regular check ins with clients
  • Organising Parties
  • Buying Presents

Our help stops these tasks from becoming overwhelming. Staying up-to-date means that you have time to focus on other things and do not have to worry about things building up.

This grant is available to most people needing extra help at work or to get to work

Great news! You do not need to receive other benefits in order to qualify for a grant, it does not matter how much you earn, and you do not need to repay the money. If you receive an Access to Work grant, it will not affect any other benefits.
