This is important – Mental Health Awareness Week

This week is Mental Health Awareness week. Keeping mentally and physically fit is vital if we’re going to fulfil our commitments to our families, our teams, those around us, and of course, most importantly, to ourselves.

As we spend most of our time at work, mental health in the workplace is of paramount importance. By supporting Mental Health Awareness Week, leaders can show their commitment to mental health and encourage teams to be the healthiest they can.

The Hour Hands plan for Mental Health Awareness Week

Each day this week we will focus on one of the elements that supports our mental health.

Starting with nutrition and understanding the foods we eat and the impact these can have on our brain health. Knowing which foods improve memory, focus and which can potentially reduce the risk of cognitive decline can benefit not only your everyday role at work, but also your general wellbeing.

Mindfulness is our second focus. We will learn different methods that can assist and aid better sleep, enhance emotional wellbeing and reduce stress – another key to unlocking a healthier and happier state of mind.

Exercise is always the obvious part of mental health: everyone always says after working out those endorphins kick in and you instantly feel better…but what if running isn’t your bag?   A gentle walk or an hour spent in the garden is sometimes the best workout you can have!

Talking of gardening. Did you know the importance of nature? This is also a topic we delve into a bit further to understand just how amazing the benefits of being outside really is for your soul.

By focusing on the above, we can really make a positive impact on ourselves; improving connections, confidence, self esteem, happiness, focus, memory and productivity.

The benefits are endless and factoring these five simple things into your day-to-day life really will improve emotional and physical wellbeing.

Why it’s important to prioritise your mental health

We understand that life is busy enough without adding all of the above on top of your to-do list but prioritising yourself really should be your number one goal.

Is there a task that you can delegate to the team here at Hour Hands to give you back an hour or two to concentrate on yourself?

How can we help you with your own wellbeing?

We get it. Fitting in everything that needs to be done and managing your time is tricky. We work hard here at Hour Hands to fill in the gaps and give you back the time to focus on what makes you happy – which could be spent in your personal life, on work, or with your family and friends, or in nature, exercising or even time out for practicing mindfulness.

If there is a task that simply doesn’t require your time, we are here to pick it up. You can then concentrate on something else that you are better skilled at doing or, simply, to allow you to enjoy doing something that fills you with happiness.

If you think that we can help – or if you’d like to talk about it and find out, do fill in the contact form or give us a call. We’re always happy to offer a helping hand!
