Three reasons why celebrating milestones in  your business growth is so important

Hour Hands is now 10 years old and last month, our founder and CEO extraordinaire turned 50 years old. It’s easy to shout about a business birthday – after all, it’s a great promotion for the company. It’s far harder to make a lot of noise about our own birthdays.  But do you know what? Both are key milestones (‘0’ celebrations always are!) and we think that it is very important to celebrate all milestones – no matter how big or how small. From client wins to ticking something off your to-do list, getting married or finishing your annual accounts: all reasons to celebrate!

10 years in businessa time for reflection

As we celebrated our 10th birthday, the Hour Hands team spent time reflecting on the business and our clients. We realised how much we’d grown and evolved and three important truths about Hour Hands that we’re going to share with you (apologies if you’ve read these before but we think they’re important truths for many businesses that they’re worth repeating).

  • Time is Priceless – every hour saved or moment enhanced for our clients reinforces the value of what we do.
  • Flexibility is Key – the world changes quickly, and we’ve learned to adapt without losing sight of our core mission.
  • Teamwork Makes the Difference – no milestone is achieved alone, and collaboration is at the heart of everything we do.

This is the first reason why celebrating milestones is important. It’s time for reflection to really stop and see what you’ve achieved and how far you have come.

50 years on the planet – a time to celebrate the now!

When Christine turned 50 last month, she chose to celebrate many, many times in many ways! 50 years is a true milestone and she enjoyed celebrating who she is as a person, being with her wonderful family, her amazing friends and of course, her fantastic work family.

So many people concentrate on the future and forget ‘the now’. Christine’s celebrations were all about the now – what she enjoys doing, right now ;  the people in her life, right now ; everything she’s achieved and built up, right now.

Reason number two for celebrating milestones: taking time to recognise achievements boosts our well-being and, according to numerous social psychology researchers, when we stop to savour the good things in life, we buffer ourselves against the bad and build resilience. It’s all about building positive emotions which in turn can make it easier to deal with daily challenges and stresses. And it’s fun!

Looking forward to the next milestone – what’s next?

Of course, a major milestone is also an opportunity to think ‘what’s next?’  What do I want to achieve? What’s on my bucket list of life, for family and friends, or for my business? And most importantly, how can I grow?

This leads us nicely on to reason three to celebrate milestones. The chance to plan and challenge ourselves.

How can we help you celebrate your own milestones?

Over our ten years in business, we’ve helped many business owners and families to celebrate key milestones in their business and private lives.  We’ve also supported their business growth.

  3. Want to focus on business growth by looking forwards? We can help you research, discover opportunities and  manage the admin associated with planning the future and realising the growth you deserve.

Next time you want to recognise your successes – think about Hour Hands
