Why celebrating personal milestones is so important

Celebrating personal milestones is so important. We always celebrate business anniversaries and client wins alongside family milestones such as children passing exams or heading off to university, college or starting an apprenticeship or work. This is a huge part of why Hour Hands is so successful: it makes us a closer knit team – a family if you like – because we truly believe that if you feel respected and confident at work, you give so much more to our clients.
Today we’re focusing on Jo, who celebrated a very special birthday with an amazing family trip to Lapland as well as an adult trip to the sunshine. We loved hearing about Jo’s adventures and hope you do too.
Over to you Jo!
Snow and Sun : a perfect combination
2024 was the year of the big 40 and I wanted to mark this momentous occasion with a couple of trips. I visited two very different places but loved them both!
A family celebration with a trip to Lapland
We really wanted to do this trip sooner rather than later as we were unsure how much longer my seven-year old daughter, Olivia, would ‘believe’ in Father Christmas.
Arriving in Lapland was magical and surreal. Much of the day was spent in darkness but this added to the festive vibes! Temperatures on arrival were -17 and snowy but snow suits kept us cosy. It was so different to the grey drizzle of the UK and the crispy cold just made it more fun.
Highlights of the trip included husky rides through the forest, being driven on a sleigh by reindeers, snowmobiles and tobogganing. The penultimate part of the trip was meeting the Big Man himself. This was so exciting as we were taken by snowmobiles through the forest to Santa’s log cabin. The look on Olivia’s face was priceless and something that I will remember forever. A personalised letter and gift was waiting for her and we hope this means that we have a believer for another year or two!
Honestly, with or without Santa, Lapland is a magical place and we plan to return at some point in the future to do the adult trip which involves more action-packed snowy activities!
Sun, cocktails and adults only!
Later in December, I enjoyed trip 2 – a total contrast to Lapland. This second trip was child free and involved a few days on a sun lounger, sipping cocktails. It was the perfect way to round up December and my 40th birthday month. It also meant that I headed into the Christmas break, refreshed and raring to go. I am now looking forward to a wonderful 2025 at Hour Hands!
